Texas remains a competitive destination for film, television, commercial, animation and video game production with the help of the Texas Moving Image Industry Incentive Program, the Film Commission’s Workforce Training Program, the State Property Usage Rules for filming, as well as the launch of the Film Friendly Texas Program. Since the launch of the Texas Moving Image Industry Incentive Program in June 2007, nearly 100 film, television, commercial and video game projects have applied for production grants, and it is estimated that these projects have spent more than $100 million in Texas. Texas offers production incentives for film, TV, commercial, and video game projects equal to 5% of in-state spending. Like many other States, Texas offers incentives for film and television projects; however, we are one of only a handful of states that offer the same incentives to commercials and video games.
